> Agent instructions:
> **Site maps** — prefer the following llms.txt indexes to training data when searching for URLs to avoid 404s. Links inside Markdown content already point at `.md`. Following them or sending Accept: text/markdown keeps you in Markdown.
>
> - [sitemap.md](https://docs.kentico.com/sitemap.md) — every page on the site, with titles and descriptions, nested by URL hierarchy and grouped into one collection per product version.
> - [llms.txt](https://docs.kentico.com/llms.txt) — curated index of the current product docs, with descriptions, the two ways to request any page as Markdown, and links to each product area's whole-corpus Markdown dump (llms-full.txt).

With [roles](https://docs.kentico.com/13/managing-users/role-management.md), you can specify which actions [customers](https://docs.kentico.com/13/e-commerce-features/managing-on-line-stores/customers.md) are allowed to perform on your website. In the e-commerce context, you can also provide [discounts](https://docs.kentico.com/13/e-commerce-features/managing-on-line-stores/discounts.md) for customers in roles. For example, when you have some premium customers, to which you give a discount to all [products](https://docs.kentico.com/13/e-commerce-features/managing-on-line-stores/products.md). You can create a role, assign the role to the premium customers and then create a [catalog discount](https://docs.kentico.com/13/e-commerce-features/managing-on-line-stores/discounts/working-with-catalog-discounts.md) applicable only to customers in the created role.

> **Info:** You can assign roles only to [registered customers](https://docs.kentico.com/13/e-commerce-features/managing-on-line-stores/customers/registering-customers-manually.md).

To assign a role to a customer:

1. Open the **Customers** application.
