Uninstalling Xperience
If you need to uninstall Xperience from your computer, you can use the three options provided in the Installer.
Uninstalling everything related to Xperience
To remove Xperience after your evaluation of the system, choose the Remove Xperience from my computer option. This option will NOT uninstall .NET Framework, IIS or SQL server.
- Open the Windows Control Panel.
- Select Programs and Features.
- Select Kentico <version>.
- Click Uninstall.
- Select Remove Kentico Xperience from my computer.
- Click Uninstall.
Uninstalling only the program files
There may be cases when you want to remove only the Xperience program files (the files needed to install new web projects). For example, when you want to move the program files to a different hard drive or when you want to launch a live site and no longer need the program files on your server. For this purpose, choose the Remove only Kentico Xperience program files option.
Uninstalling the program files will also remove external utilities, like Kentico Xperience Installation Manager or Kentico Xperience Import Toolkit.
- Open the Windows Control Panel.
- Select Programs and Features.
- Select Kentico <version>.
- Click Uninstall.
- Select Remove only Kentico Xperience program files.
- Click Uninstall.
Uninstalling individual web projects (instances)
If you have installed multiple web projects (instances) and you want to remove only some of them, use the third option Remove one or more registered web projects. Using this approach, you can also choose to remove only the web project files (this option will also remove Windows services and event log sources) and keep the database for further use.
Open the Windows Start menu and select Kentico Xperience Installer from the Kentico folder.
Select your country, accept the license agreement, and click next.
Select Uninstall.
Select the instances you want to remove.
Note: Corresponding front end sites are listed below the instance details. The live site runs using a separate web project from the Xperience administration interface. The live site project files are only deleted if they are located within the main installation folder of the given Xperience instance.
Click Uninstall.
For managing individual web projects, you can also use the Kentico Xperience Installation Manager utility.
