Sending marketing emails
Before sending your marketing emails, you need to make sure that you have added their recipients.
Marketing automation emails
Emails that are intended for marketing automation purposes (i.e. emails that have the Use in Marketing automation property enabled) do not use a list of recipients, and cannot be sent directly from the Email marketing application.
See the Sending marketing emails using marketing automation section for detailed information.
License limitations for email recipients
Sites running under the Kentico Xperience Business License Edition have a maximum limit of 5000 marketable recipients for each email feed. The number of recipients is unlimited with the Kentico Xperience Enterprise license.
If an email feed exceeds the recipient limit, sending of marketing emails within this feed is not possible.

Marketable recipients

Sending marketing emails using marketing automation
Marketing emails can be sent out automatically by marketing automation processes. Such emails must be specifically flagged by enabling the Use in Marketing automation property (either when creating the email or later by editing the email on the Email properties tab).
Emails intended for marketing automation cannot be sent directly from the Email marketing application and do not work with an exact list of recipients. Instead, you can use the following approach to send the emails:
- Set up an appropriate marketing automation process.
- Add a Send marketing email action step into the process flow.
- Select your email in the step properties.
The system automatically sends the email to individual contacts when they reach the Send marketing email step within the process.
Note: Marketing automation does NOT send emails if the contact has unsubscribed from the related newsletter or has opted out globally from all marketing emails.
