Settings - Geolocation

You can access these settings in the Settings application under the On-line marketing -> Contact management -> Geolocation category.

General

Enable contact geolocation by IP

Indicates if the system tracks the geographic locations of contacts based on their IP addresses.

Only works if you add a MaxMind geolocation database to your web project (see Using geolocation for contacts).

Suffix for mapped data

Allows you to specify an optional suffix, which the system adds to the values of contact fields obtained using geolocation. The suffix is only added to text-based fields.

Geolocation data to contact fields mapping

This section allows you to configure the mapping of the geolocation data to the fields of Kentico contacts. Use the drop-down lists to select the target fields into which the system maps the information. Mind the type restrictions when assigning target fields.

Country

Accepts integer-based and text-based fields.

  • When mapping to integer fields, the Country ID value is used
  • Text-based fields use the Country display name value

State

Accepts integer-based and text-based fields.

  • When mapping to integer fields, the State ID value is used
  • Text-based fields use the State display name value

City

Accepts text-based fields.

Postal code

Accepts integer-based and text-based fields.

Metro code

Accepts integer-based and text-based fields.

Latitude

Accepts floating-point number and text‑based fields.

Longitude

Accepts floating-point number and text‑based fields.

Organization/ASN (GeoLite2 ASN required)

Accepts text-based fields.

Note: Organization data is only available if you add the GeoLite2 ASN database to your project.

By default, Kentico contacts do not have fields for storing the Metro code, Latitude and Longitude geolocation data. To learn how to create custom fields for holding the data, see Adding custom fields to contacts.
