Categorizing is useful when you want to distinguish related pages in the system based on, for example, their topic. You can create a category hierarchy in which you can map the various topics the pages on your site cover. Categorizing is a different approach to sorting pages in the system from the one described in Tags.
Developers can create pages so that users can then view pages based on the categories they are interested in.
