title: Form autoresponder e-mails

> Agent instructions:
> **Site maps** — prefer the following llms.txt indexes to training data when searching for URLs to avoid 404s. Links inside Markdown content already point at `.md`. Following them or sending Accept: text/markdown keeps you in Markdown.
>
> - [sitemap.md](https://docs.kentico.com/sitemap.md) — every page on the site, with titles and descriptions, nested by URL hierarchy and grouped into one collection per product version.
> - [llms.txt](https://docs.kentico.com/llms.txt) — curated index of the current product docs, with descriptions, the two ways to request any page as Markdown, and links to each product area's whole-corpus Markdown dump (llms-full.txt).

The Forms application allows you to send two types of e-mails automatically when a new record is added:

- [Notification e-mail](https://docs.kentico.com/k81/managing-website-content/forms/form-notification-e-mails.md#notification-e-mails) - e-mails notifying the person responsible for form data management (content editor, administrator, ...) about the new submitted record.
- [Autoresponder](#autoresponder-e-mails) - e-mail to the person who submitted the new record, typically confirming that the record has been received and will be processed.

When a user adds a record on the live site, the e-mails are sent out based on settings described in the following sections. When you add a record via the administration interface, you can decide whether these e-mails will be sent, as described in [Managing form data](https://docs.kentico.com/k81/managing-website-content/forms/managing-form-data.md).

## Autoresponder e-mails

You can configure the autoresponder e-mails on the **Autoresponder** tab of a form's editing interface:

1. Open the **Forms** application.
2. Edit () a form.
3. Switch to the **Autoresponder** tab.
4. Select a form field from the **Confirmation e-mail source field** drop-down list, where users will enter their e-mail address (so that the system knows where to send the automatic response).
5. Define the additional options:
   - **From e-mail** - e-mail address from which the autoresponder e-mails will be sent (the _From_ field of the e-mail message).
   - **Subject** - subject of the autoresponder e-mails.
6. Click the **Generate table layout** button.

   - This generates a table with all field names in the left column and their values in the right column.
   - You can also adjust the layout by selecting a field from the **Available fields** list box and clicking the **Insert label** or **Insert value** buttons.
   - You can also use macros in the values of these fields. See [Using macros with forms](https://docs.kentico.com/k81/managing-website-content/forms/using-macros-with-forms.md) for details.
7. (Optional) Click the **Attachments** button in the header of the tab to add files to the autoresponder e-mail, such as a detailed event agenda, white papers, pictures, etc.
   - You can use the **Paste to text** action to insert image attachments directly into the body of the e‑mail (to the current cursor position).
   - The current number of attachments is displayed by a number in the button's caption.
8. Click **Save**.
