> Agent instructions:
> **Site maps** — prefer the following llms.txt indexes to training data when searching for URLs to avoid 404s. Links inside Markdown content already point at `.md`. Following them or sending Accept: text/markdown keeps you in Markdown.
>
> - [sitemap.md](https://docs.kentico.com/sitemap.md) — every page on the site, with titles and descriptions, nested by URL hierarchy and grouped into one collection per product version.
> - [llms.txt](https://docs.kentico.com/llms.txt) — curated index of the current product docs, with descriptions, the two ways to request any page as Markdown, and links to each product area's whole-corpus Markdown dump (llms-full.txt).

Language version comparison enables content editors to view and edit two different [language versions](https://docs.kentico.com/k81/multilingual-websites/editing-the-content-of-multilingual-websites.md) of pages side-by-side. This can be convenient when translating website content into multiple languages.

To switch to language version comparison mode in the **Pages** application, select a page and click **Compare** below the content tree.

The system displays a language version comparison toolbar and splits the page editing area below the toolbar into two parts:

- The first displays the page in the language selected in the main selector below the content tree.
- The second displays the language selected on the comparison toolbar.

You can edit both displayed language versions independently at the same time.

The language comparison toolbar provides the following options:

| **Close comparison mode** | Closes the comparison mode and returns to the standard view of a single language version. You can also close the comparison by clicking **Compare** below the content tree again. |
| -------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Vertical layout** | Splits the editing area vertically. |
| **Horizontal layout** | Splits the editing area horizontally. |
| **Synchronize scrollbars** | If enabled, scrollbars in both parts of the editing area are synchronized, resulting in the same sections of both language versions being displayed while scrolling. |
| **Language selector** | You can choose which language version of the page is compared with the selected language. |

- If you select a page whose version in the comparison language is not created yet, the standard **New culture version** dialog appears.
- Language version comparison mode is available in both **Edit** and **Preview** mode.
- The comparison mode is also supported for page **Properties,** except for the **Linked pages**, **Related pages**, **Security** and **Languages** tabs (the page properties on these tabs are shared by all language versions).
