Getting started with Kentico

Welcome to the Kentico Tutorial! Kentico 12 Tutorial is split into two paths – one for business users and the other for developers.

For Developers

For Business users

Overview

Developers will learn the basics of developing Kentico websites while converting a simple website into Kentico.

Business users will learn how to manage the content of a Kentico website built with the MVC development model.

Tutorial content

The development tutorial is further divided into two paths.

In the Portal Engine path, we will show you how to put HTML and CSS code into Kentico, how to convert parts of the code to dynamic components, and how to build website pages and templates.

The MVC path explains what the MVC development in Kentico looks like. We will show you how to prepare the Kentico environment for MVC development, how to create pages that hold data, how to enable the page builder feature to dynamically modify page content, and how to style the content with CSS and display it on the live site using the MVC design pattern.

Feel free to pick the path you are most interested in (or go through both of them so you can decide which model better suits your project’s needs).

As an editor, you will learn to edit the content of pages, work with images, and add them to pages as attachments. You will learn what the page builder is and how it can help you to create effective high-traffic pages for scenarios where you need to often adjust the content of the page as well as its layout to achieve your marketing goals.
