> **Info:** Let’s create a Data Protection Officer user role that your manager asked you to create to comply with the legislation. The Data Protection Officer oversees the personal data of company staff, customers, providers, or any other individuals (data subjects) in compliance with the applicable data protection rules.

Not a fan of the video format? Here're the steps you need to take to create a Data protection officer user role in Xperience by Kentico.

1. Go to the **Role management** application.
2. Add a **New role** and fill in the information:
   1. **Display name**: _Data Protection Officer_
   2. **Code name:** _DataProtectionOfficer_
   3. **Description:** e.g., "_The Data Protection Officer oversight the personal data of company staff, customers, providers, or any other individuals (data subjects). The role is responsible for informing the data subjects about their data protection rights and handling requests for data erasure from them."_
3. **Save** to create the user role.
4. Go to the **Permissions** tab.
5. Select **Add permission** set for each application:
   1. **Data protection**: _View_, _Create_, _Update_, _Delete_.
   2. **Contact groups**: _View_.
   3. **Contact management**: _View_, _Update_, _Delete_.
   4. **Recipient list**: _View_, _Delete_.
   5. **Members**: _View_, _Update_, _Delete_.
6. **Save** the changes.
7. Your _Data Protection Officer_ user role should look like the following:
