Contact activity tracking overview
Knowing how visitors navigate and what content they engage with is key to defining and optimizing customer journeys. Xperience’s contact activity tracking lets you monitor contacts’ actions. Contacts are visitors whose interactions Xperience tracks across websites, mobile apps, and other digital marketing channels. You can analyze how they engage with your site, including browsing patterns, content consumption, form submissions, downloads, and other activities. Once developers enable the feature, Xperience assigns a contact ID to each visitor that complies with GDPR and other privacy laws and automatically begins recording actions and behavior.
These actions are called activities. For example, when a visitor views a page or submits a form, Xperience logs these actions as different activities. Over time, this data builds a clear picture of how your contacts behave across your content channels. It gives you the insight you need to act at the right moment.

Keep your contact database lean
As your site grows, so does your contact database. An oversized database can slow performance, raise costs, and complicate tracking. To keep your database current, developers can automate the deletion of contacts that have been inactive for a set number of days (at least 7). This deletion occurs overnight and doesn’t impact site performance.
