Checkout process represents a fully customizable mechanism that the [customers](https://docs.kentico.com/k11/e-commerce-features/managing-your-store/customers.md) need to go through to purchase [products](https://docs.kentico.com/k11/e-commerce-features/managing-your-store/products.md) offered in your on-line store. This page describes how to create a checkout process on your MVC site. The whole checkout process described in this section uses the same controller, named **CheckoutController**:

When the visitor goes through the checkout process, the system creates an [order](https://docs.kentico.com/k11/e-commerce-features/managing-your-store/orders.md) and the visitor becomes a [customer](https://docs.kentico.com/k11/e-commerce-features/managing-your-store/customers.md).
